Sleek and sophisticated, the Hungarian Vizsla is a stunning looking dog with a loving, energetic and affectionate attitude.

SIZE
The noble Hungarian Vizla weights in between 20-30kgs, male stands at 58-64cms and the female between 54cms and 60cms. They love being indoors but require plenty of room to move, so access to a large, well-fenced yard is necessary.

COAT
The short, dense coat of the Hungarian Vizsla is coarse to the touch and becomes softer and silkier on the ears. They come in various shades of russet gold and dark sandy gold, occasionally with a small white patch on the chest or throat.

CHARACTER & TEMPERAMENT
The Vizsla thrives on affection and acceptance from its �pack�. They are a happy, active breed that needs human companionship and a huge daily serving of affection, exercise and mental stimulation.
Vizsla enthusiasts describe this breed as �bursting with personality� � you will find your Vizsla becoming quickly attached to you and your family, displaying loyalty without an aggressive nature.
While their large size may deter potential intruders, the Vizsla does not make for an extraordinarily talented watchdog, being much more interested in curling up at your feet than going to bark at the door.

CARE
The most important thing is to exercise your Vizsla very thoroughly, every day. At least an hour of quality outdoor time and stimulation is required to keep your Vizsla fit and happy.
The coat requires minimal care, and brushing once or twice a week with a rubber brush will take care of the stray hairs. Vitzlas should be bathed only when necessary as their coat has a natural oils that keep their skin clean and odorless.
Being so attached to their owners and naturally a �pack-dog�, it is unadvisable to leave this breed on its own for long periods of time � they will become depressed without human affection and grow restless and destructive.

TRAINING
Obedience training should start at a young age, with an emphasis on manners and socialization. They are an extremely intelligent breed and pick up training very quickly.
This breed does not respond well to scolding, so focus on a reward-based training system.

ACTIVITY
An incredibly active breed, the Vizsla requires at least one hour of exhausting exercise and mental stimulation every day to remain fit and happy, or else become bored and try to escape. They would do well with a high-energy family that enjoys taking their pooch with them for outdoor activities.
The Vizsla�s athleticism and intelligence gives them a natural aptitude for dog sports including agility and tracking, and they excel at swimming.
