Breed InformationThe Lhasa Apso is a beautiful lap dog that has a spunky and bold personality. They have a small, sturdy frame covered in a long, thick coat. They have a square muzzle, a black nose, a moustache and a beard, hanging ears and dark, medium-sized eyes and a feathered tail curling over the back. SIZE Lhasa Apsos weigh 5-8 kg and measure 23-28 cm in height. They are well suited to apartment living. COAT The Lhasa Apso has a double coat which is neither wooly nor silky and can easily become matted if not properly groomed. Possible colours include golden, sandy, honey, dark grizzle, smoke, black, white or brown. This breed sheds lightly. CHARACTER & TEMPERAMENT They see themselves as the protector of the household and take this job very seriously. They develop a strong bond with their master and may seem suspicious of strangers, but have an excellent sense of restraint and judgment. CARE This dog must be groomed thoroughly with a brush and comb twice a week. Their eyes and ears need to be cleaned regularly, and excess hair from between the pads of their feet should be trimmed. TRAINING This dog is very strong-willed. When training one, it is important to try and maintain authority. They will respect a firm and positive leader. ACTIVITY This dog has a moderate energy level so they don't demand a lot of exercise. They love to walk and scamper about. Ball games are an excellent way to play with this breed and will be enough to fulfill their daily exercise needs.
