SIZE This dog stands at a height of about 75-90 cm and weighs around 48-55 kg. Confined living areas are ill-advised for this breed due to their size. COAT This breed has a medium-length, rough and shaggy coat that sheds moderately. Possible coat colours vary, with grey being the most common. Other colours include wheaten, brindle, red, black, pure white, brown, or fawn. CHARACTER & TEMPERAMENT The Irish Wolfhound is loving, patient, and extremely intelligent. They are great with children and a loyal member of the family. They also get along well with other household pets. The Irish Wolfhound wants to make friends with everyone and their love and loyalty for their family is unconditional. CARE This breed does not require regular bathing, but their ears should be cleaned frequently. Their harsh coat needs to be brushed every few days to be kept under control. About once or twice a year, the coat should be plucked to get rid of dead hair. TRAINING The Irish Wolfhound is easy to train because of their inherent intelligence, loyalty and desire to please. They respond well to a firm and loving hand. Be sure to remain consistent with training of this dog so that they remain self-confident and well-adjusted in the home. ACTIVITY Although Wolfhounds like to get cosy at home, they need some elbowroom and a decent-sized yard for their exercise needs. They love going for walks and enjoy running and play time.
