The identity of this breeder has not yet been verified by PuppiesForSale.com.au staff. This does not necessarily mean this person is not who they allege to be, however we recommend you proceed with caution.
How to be aware of potential internet fraud
Check the integrity of the seller
When you are browsing Puppy and Breeder listings on our site, look for the "Breeder ID Verified" symbol. This means that we have personally verified this member's identity and have confirmed they are a registered breeder with their state canine council.
Keeping the above in mind, internet fraud is an unfortunate reality, so we've added the following information as additional protection for you when dealing with sellers online. Follow our simple guidelines below, and purchase your puppy with confidence!
How to protect yourself when buying online:
- Check the integrity of the seller
Although the initial contact you have with a breeder might be by email, it is important that email is not the only form of contact used. Once the breeder has responded to your initial enquiry and you have decided you wish to purchase one of their puppies, it is extremely important that you phone the breeder and speak to them personally. If their phone number is not published on their profile, request their phone number by email.
- Do not send money via Western Union
DO NOT send money through Western Union under any circumstances. There is no way to protect the funds in case a problem of fraud arises.
- Do not send money to another country or pay using foreign currency
Every puppy for sale on PuppiesForSale.com.au clearly displays the location of the breeder. If the breeder asks that you send money to another country, or even a different state to what is listed on their profile, do not make any further contact with this person, and report them to PuppiesForSale.com.au
All listings displayed on our site are from Australian breeders in Australia, so there is absolutely no reason why anyone should request to be payed in US dollars or any other foreign currency. If you find a breeder requesting payment in a currency other than the Australian dollar do not make any further contact with this person, and report them to PuppiesForSale.com.au
- Request additional photos from the breeder
Requesting additional photos of the puppy you are interested in is a simple way to ensure the integrity of the seller. You can even request that a specific item be in the photo as well, for example a can of coke or something of the sort. If the breeder refuses to send the requested photos or state their camera is broken and are unable to send additional photos, discontinue the sale.
